WHAT?
Laura is not an avid hiker nor is she an experienced backpacker. She gets cold easily and likes to have the option to take a nap after lunch. When she was seven she went camping and fell onto a stick that cut a deep gash into her chest. She has not yet forgiven sticks. And still she has stubbornly decided to hike 2,189 miles on the Appalachian Trail.
WHEN?
Laura will start from Springer Mountain in Georgia on March 17th, 2017, heading north. The trail will take approximately five to six months if everything goes as planned, which it most certainly will not.
ALSO, WHY?
As a wise friend once said, hiking the Appalachian Trail alone is an incredibly powerful experience to learn "two things about trees."
